The shoe rotation of the Nike Ekiden 2025 range!

Nike's road range is very extensive, and it's true that it's not easy to find your way around. But the American brand has just released a pack in tribute to the audacity of the Ekiden relay athletes, and there are three models to suit everyone. Focused on performance, you'll find models designed for fast training and two top competition models.
Running shoes and lifestyle apparel are adorned with flames. This motif is taken from the Air Streak Spectrum Plus, a successful silhouette in the Streak range. Released in 2002, it was designed with the help of male and female Ekiden relay runners.
We explain everything in this article.

A Zoom Fly 6, a fast, versatile training model!
With a design and look far more "racy" than the previous version, the American brand still offers us a model halfway between the training shoe and the competition pair, with a slight tendency towards the latter. While the Zoom Fly 6 is aimed at regular runners who include one or more intensity sessions in their weeks, it is perfectly suited to all types of outings, thanks in particular to an outsole offering excellent grip even on soft or wet ground, but also a midsole that is firmer and more stable than that of models specifically designed for road racing. A great combination that could well make them the central shoe in your rotation.
Highlights
- Dynamism and energy return
- Adhesion
- Lightweight
Weak points
- Narrow forefoot fit
- Low maintenance
- Rates still on the rise

The Vaporfly 3 is designed for 5- and 10-kilometer competitions!
This is the essential competition model for "short" distances in the Nike range. It's primarily designed for use up to half-marathons. But it's obviously not forbidden for marathon running (although we'd recommend the next model below). Light, comfortable and dynamic, it's a model that's perfect for training sessions. It's not as demanding as other models from other brands.
Highlights
- Comfort
- Lightweight
- Shock absorption
Weak points
- Lack of forward propulsion and rocking sensation
- Lack of dynamism

Alphafly 3 among the top models for marathon running!
This shoe remains one of the best-performing models on the market for road racing, from 10 kilometers to marathons. It's comfortable to wear, the foot feels right at home in the shoe, and the softness of the cushioning guarantees an incredibly pleasant running sensation. This is a clear improvement! It's not surprising that Nike is making these competition models more accessible to the general public, and not just to elite runners of a certain level, as was the case with the first generations of the Alphafly and Vaporfly - where an amateur runner clearly couldn't get all the benefits from the shoe.
Highlights
- Comfort
- Energy feedback
- Shock absorption
Weak points
- High rate
- Lack of durability

General opinion of the range
The quality of the Nike range has been proven time and time again. There's something for everyone and every taste. Here, for someone looking for a quality rotation with performance in mind, there are four models to satisfy everyone! Prices have gone up a lot recently for the American brand, but unfortunately this is the trajectory that all brands are taking today.
Size: usually in 42.5 at HOKA or ASICS for example, we're exactly the same here in 42.5.
Hello ,
I'd like to know your opinion on which model of carbon shoe is best suited to an 84kg runner who needs 1h30 for a half and 3h26 for a marathon?
From Nike for example, thank you in advance.
A model like the Zoom Fly 6 will be top! It has a carbon plate but is much less demanding than the brand's top carbon models 🙂
