It was expected at the start of 2023, and in our opinion it's the best competition shoe for "short distances". Salomon has hit the nail on the head this year with its arrival on the road!

HOKA ROCKET X 2

It's certainly the best shoe to go from 5 kilometers to marathon, so comfortable and dynamic at the same time. Its only drawback is its very limited grip on wet roads.

ON CLOUDBOOM ECHO 3

Once again, this was an eagerly-awaited model, and the Swiss brand clearly didn't disappoint. Extremely dynamic, it is ideal for 5 and 10 kilometers. It can also be used for marathons, but is likely to hit the ground a little harder...

It's definitely our favorite of 2023! As mentioned above, it performs equally well over short and long distances. On half and full marathons, it's hard to beat it at the moment.

For us, it's the big surprise of 2023: it dethrones the shoes of top brands like Nike and Adidas. Incredible comfort and energy return for long distances.

As one of the best carbon shoes on the marathon circuit, we had to include it on this podium. But this year, it has its work cut out against Hoka and Saucony. Perhaps in 2024 with the third version?

It's hard not to put this model on the podium, such is its popularity with middle-distance runners. But this year, only the On brand has (in our opinion) done better in terms of tartan performance.

ADIDAS ADIZERO AMBITION

Lightweight and extremely dynamic, it ranks third on our podium. Quite demanding, it may well be suitable for fewer mid-distance runners, but it's one of the top shoes in terms of performance.

    The Hoka rocket x2 is a disaster in the wet, with no grip at all. Forget about them, they'll ruin your run if it rains or has rained before. bring a spare pair.

      Indeed, that's the weak point we've always pointed out. However, outside rainy weather, it's one of the best models on the market 🙂
