You won't be disappointed. The footbed is comfortable, the return of energy and the sensation of bounce are all there. You can you'll be able to rack up the kilometers, whether on the road or on the trail. Its faults are worth noting if you're about to buy this model. to buy this model: the lack of stability due to the geometry and height of the sole, and a problem of grip in wet weather (beware of slipping). Apart from these two "snags", you can go ahead with your eyes shut.

"The NOVABLAST 4 is the ideal running shoe if you're looking for bounce. Designed for faster running, this model is lighter than its predecessor and offers better energy return. It boosts your energy with every stride. Unsurprisingly, it's the favorite running shoe of athletes."

No major changes from the third generation!

If you were convinced by version 3, you won't be surprised by running with this one, as the racing sensations remain unchanged. Likewise, if you weren't a fan of the previous model, this one won't suit you. The three major changes compared to the previous generation are: the use of more environmentally-friendly foam in the shoe's construction - a new sole geometry designed to improve the efficiency and fluidity of the running stride - a new, more flexible and breathable mesh to envelop the foot. The other technical features are virtually identical: the same 8-mm drop, but around 20 grams more on the scales for the new generation.

It's our favorite all-rounder in 2023!

As mentioned earlier in the article, this Novablast 4 is 100% part of our training shoe rotation. training shoe, as it's so comfortable and versatile. We have very little to reproach it for: the quality/price ratio is good, especially when competitors sometimes charge €30 to €50 more for an equivalent model. Durability is also on the agenda, as is the eco-responsibility aspect, with 75% recycled materials making up the shoe!

Our shoe rotation tips at ASICS :

Shoe rotation means using two or three different models in your training week. This is something we recommend if you have a performance-oriented profile and run more than 4 times a week: Metaspeed Sky+ (road racing) - Magic Speed 3 (fast training) - Novablast 4 (jogging and long outings) - Gel-Nimbus 25 (jogging and long outings for maximum cushioning).

General opinion on the shoe

Note:
5/5

After running over a hundred kilometers in this Novablast 4, it's time to give you our final opinion, even if you've already guessed it from our review: 5 stars out of a possible 5! Because this model excels in all the areas a runner would expect from a good everyday training shoe. Its lack of stability and grip on wet surfaces doesn't lower the score, however, because it's light and not all the members of our team experienced the same sensations. But we felt it necessary to warn you about these points.

    Hello,
Thank you for this test and feedback.
Compared to the Superblast model, what would be the differences for you (apart from the price)?
I confess I'm having trouble understanding the difference between these 2 models.
    Thanks for your feedback.

The Superblast is even more imposing, more cushioning, to do longer in terms of distance and have even more muscle economy and cushioning 🙂

    Thank you very much.

Hesitating between Novablast and Hoka Skyflow. Which pair would you recommend most for longer outings and complete my rotation with the New Balance Rebel v4 for shorter, faster outings?

I've tried both in store and it's really hard to define a preference without having actually run with them over long distances.

    1. Quentin Felden said:

Both shoes are effectively intended for the same use. So it all depends on how comfortable you feel inside 🙂

Lack of stability, I can't run with it, but it's super comfortable.

    Hello,

What are the differences between novablast 4 and novablast 4 Lite-Show? 🙏

    1. Quentin Felden said:

None, the Novablast Lite-show has reflective elements for added visibility at night, but the shoe is totally identical otherwise 🙂

I weigh 90kg. Could this shoe be a good cushioning/perfomance compromise compared to the Nimbus?

    1. Quentin Felden said:

Hello, yes absolutely! If you find the Nimbus too comfortable and not dynamic enough, the Novablast can be a great alternative 🙂
